Surrender
what does it mean to surrender?
As the dictionary defines it: Surrender...to give oneself up, as into the power of another; submit or yield
So what does it mean to trully surrender our dreams, our desires to Jesus?
We can say it
I SURRENDER
but what action must we take?
Is there a 5 step method to surrendering or should it just come naturally? Is it something that we just do or something we need to be taught?
beats me.
It seems to me that most times we are so easily surrending our lives to possessions, people, careers, or our other selfish desires.
money
time
devotion
heart
mind
strength
we freely give these things, surrendering them because we think it's worth it.
I think it is worth it to surrender to God.
I WANT TO SURRENDER
To fully surrender takes faith....it takes trust....it takes humility....it takes strength.
Faith.....When you are surrendering something as big as your whole life, something as important as your dreams and desires you have to know that what you are surrendering it to will have your back. You need to have belief without always having proof. Confidence.
Trust....I think that goes along with faith, that you have to be able to trust that this thing or person you are surrending to has good intentions. Certainty.
Humility....recognizing that we are not in control and being able to admit it. Realizing that we don't always have the answers and our way is not the best way. Taking ourselves off the throne of our lives and placing Christ there...where he belongs. Content.
Strength....It is going to take a lot of effort and strength to fully surrender, to daily look past our selfish desires and look towards Christ. Strength that at times we feel we don't have, strength that Christ always has. Courage.
Everything in this world point towards ourselves. What makes us look good, what makes us feel good, what makes us sound good. Me, me, me, us, us, us.
It's not about what we want anymore.
What would it look like if we surrendered our desires to the One with ultimate control? If we gave up control and followed.

I don't know what that physically looks like.
I wish i had answers sometimes.
Thank you Jesus that we can surrender to you, that we can have the freedom to relinguish control. Thank you that we can have faith in you because of what you have done in our lives, that we can trust in your ability to lead us, and that overall your love is strong.
Confidence. Certainty. Contentness. Courage.
